As the main subcontractor, Kuanta provided personnel, materials, equipment and services to support ARINC during installation of Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower equipment and systems for the U.S. Air Force in Taji, Iraq.
In the ATC Tower, Kuanta’s electrical engineers and technicians worked under ARINC’s supervision while installing the Voice Communication System (VCS), Global Positioning System (GPS), Land Mobile Radio (LMR), and voice recorder equipment; Satellite Communications systems (including the SATCOM antenna foundation and mast); Automated Terminal Information Service (ATIS) equipment; and UHF as well as VHF radios and antennas. Kuanta also installed UPS panels and cabling (data and fiber optic) between the old and new towers, and also electrical and data cabling inside the new tower, including electrical grounding, lightning arrestors, and connection panels.
In addition, Kuanta’s scope included complete installation of the Automatic Weather Observation Systems (AWOS) meteo station per CAT 1 standards, including foundations, the meteo tower, ductwork, cabling, sensor installation, control and electrical distribution panels, and electrical grounding. Finally, Kuanta installed related control center equipment in the ATC Tower, including the AWOS central data panel and display panels.
The ATC Tower in Taji is currently fully operational and Kuanta continues to provide on-site technical and operations & maintenance support to ARINC and the Iraqi Air Force.
