In this project for the Turkish State Airports Authority, Kuanta renovated and upgraded the existing Air Traffic Control (ATC)/Radar Simulator Center at Esenboga Airport in Ankara, Turkey.

Our teams completed minor demolition work, then designed and installed a new 360° screen wall and steel frame for the ATC simulator system. We also installed a suspended ceiling and antistatic raised floor, and integrated over 80 PCs and network systems in the simulator center. In total, Kuanta supplied, installed and commissioned 25 ATC positions in the Radar Simulator Center.

For the simulator system, Kuanta engineers and NITA specialists designed and produced a state-of-the-art network system and new software featuring 3D modeling of all major airports in Turkey as well as all plane types. This network system enables real-time coordination between operator positions in the radar, pilot, and area control rooms, and a lso the situation tower.

Kuanta also installed and calibrated all hardware to enable real-time coordination of ATC radar displays, Voice Communication System (VCS) computers, touchscreen units, strip printers and server infrastructure to carry and distribute 3D image files, voice signals, and real-time data packets. In addition, Kuanta engineers designed, installed and commissioned a secondary fire protection system to supplement the existing fire alarm system.

Kuanta coordinated all work with the client in order to prevent disruption to ongoing ATC operations. Upon project completion, this ATC Radar Simulator Center was the second largest in the world.
